This Festival, hosted by the Haydn Festival Eisenstadt and held at famous Esterházy Castle in Eisenstadt, as a unique global contribution, is devoted to the entire corpus of diverse trio combinations in the works of Haydn. Alongside piano, flute and string trios there are baryton trios and organ concertos to be heard at the TRIOthlon, as well as Haydn’s Scottish Songs. A particular highlight is the performance of 18 piano trios, which have been commissioned from international composers under the umbrella of the “DedicatedToHaydn” (D2H) project. The Haydn Trio Eisenstadt, as “artist in residence”, will perform these new works in the presence of the composers, and together with many internationally renowned chamber musicians will provide the rest of the programme.
